Guess what?!?!?!

I was chosen for the DT at Serendipity Scrapbooks! I am so excited! I still can't believe Kristen chose me! I am on the Review team so I will have to learn more about that but I can't wait!

For You Card SS DT entry 3

This is the card I made for the Serendipity Scrapbooks DT call. The call ended last night at midnight and now all there is to do is sit and wait! Kristen said we would know by August 1st at the latest! I am soooooooo glad I have a workshop tomorrow and Tuesday to keep my mind off of it! I am so happy with how this card turned out!

I used my SU set Fresh Blooms/Fresh Cuts - my brain is foggy I can't remember! It is the preview set you could order in June. I wasn't that excited about it until stamp club and we used it and I loved it!!!! Had to have it! Maybe it's good I am not doing a club anymore! Everytime I would go with my list in hand and wind up adding to it! This was a pretty good addition I think! Not badly priced and a pretty unique set. The big image is like a background stamp but smaller - lots of detail! I inked it up with my brayer - such a wonderful invention - in soft sky then inked just the edges in choc chip. I stamped it on Whisper White then cut it in pieces which I matted on a piece of Soft Sky. I then matted that on a layer of distressed choc chip another layer of soft sky distressed and finally a choc chip base. This card is 6x6 - definitely a hand deliver. The sentiment is stamped on white in choc chip punched out with the Designer Label punch which perfectly matches the Stylized Silver hardware that was in the Spring mini - I so hope they put it in the Fall Catty along with some more like it! I don't know what I 'd do with NO hardware. I threaded soft sky double stitched ribbon through the openings and tied a little bow (so gonna miss the IN colors) and added some choc chip wide grosgrain behind it. TFL!

Tools:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Choc Chip, Soft Sky all SU
Stamps: Fresh Blooms/Cuts (please tell me what the name is and I will fix it)
Ink: Choc Chip, Soft Sky
Accessories: Stylized Silver HP Hardware, Soft Sky Double Stitched Ribbon, Choc Chip wide grosgrain ribbon
Tools: Designer Label punch, Tim Holtz Distresser, Brayer, glue dots

*SPLASH* SS DT Entry 2

Here is another LO I did for Serendipity Scrapbooks design team call. This one we were to create a LO with at least 3 photos and hand cutwork! Ummmm hand cutwork? Not something I do alot! But I think it turned out nicely. It was a real work in progress for this layout! My original plan was using different paper for a layout from our Honeymoon in Maui. But then I was looking at these photos of Kaden from the pool and got the idea for this layout. I just love this paper - it's by Crate Paper and is perfect for summer or vacation layouts. The swirls were already on the blue paper and I cut them out leaving some here and there. The swirls are die cuts but from the same line so they match perfectly. I love how the golden background has real subtle swirls and matches the slide in the picture!!!! I also went outside my comfort zone on the placement of pics - it's not my usual to slant the pics like that but I like how it turned out! The title is more BG chipboard - have I mentioned how much I like that stuff????? These I used various Pallet spots in blues and some yellows to get lots of depth and variation - I had to keep going over them as the ink seeps in and washes out the color. I also wanted a little more so I added some flowers - I know I know on a BOY layout! But they are blue and yellow and I think they look good! My favorite part of this layout though is the details I created using Crystal Effects or Glassy Glaze it has several different names. It is a glue that dries clear making things appear wet - has MANY other uses as well! I used it on the hand cut work to enhance some details as well as on the title to look like water droplets and even on the flowers!!!! It took a while to completely dry as I used ALOT in some places!

Here is a close up of the flowers and title so you can see the CE looking like water droplets.

Here is a close up of the cut work - you will see I also doodled around it for more definition - you can also see the CE on the cut work.

Tools:
Paper: Crate Paper, Barely Banana CS by SU
Ink: pallet ink spots in LOTS of colors
Embellishments: Primas in blue and yellow, brads in blue and yellow, Stamp and write marker in Night of Navy, Crystal Effects, BG Chipboard Alphas
Tools: Fine Tip Sissors, EK Success Retractable Craft Knife

T-Rex Cafe - SS DT entry 1

This is a LO I designed for the Serendpity Scrapbooks Design Team Contest. I just love it over there and would love to be on there DT! Yes I would really like to be on any DT but theirs would be PERFECT!!! I love the mb, I love the kits and Kristen the owner is so cool! We were to create a layout using embellishments to show dimension. I hope this fits the bill! I am pleased with how it turned out. This is from our recent trip to T-Rex Cafe at the Legends in Kansas City. We went for Kaden's birthday as he is in to ALL things dinosaurs right now. Let me tell you this place is SOOOOO cool! I thought it was just like Rainforest Cafe (same creator) or other theme restaurants with several in the country but there are actually only a few in the whole country! It has a Build-A-Dino (like Build-A-Bear) and theme rooms and HUGE dino models and skeletons and it was just very cool - for adults and kids! There was also a little paleontologists area where Kaden could pan for gold and bush at "fossils" and other discovery play type things. He loved it! This is the page for our family album as there will also be several for just his book.
I chose the Basic Grey Archaic line for this layout for OBVIOUS reasons - it just screams dinosaurs! I used several different papers to build depth at the bottom and added in some wide chocolate chip satin ribbon that I ruffled. I distressed and inked the edges of some of the papers and used my threading water punch on the orange piece. I matted the photos on Brown Bazzill Cardstock and distressed it with my Tim Holtz distresser - love that thing! There is a BG Grime rub-on behind the family picture that I double matted and added a little Tim Holtz binder clip to the top that I tied a piece of Wild Wasabi stitched ribbon to. I though the little felt Dino from Fancy Pants that I got from Serendipity's Blue Light Special Sale during their last online crop was perfect for this LO. I used my Choc Chip marker to add some details to him. I also used the BG Archaic buttons to add some dimension and tied some DMC floss on each one for more texture. The main part of the title I used BG chipboard letters - love the fact there is already adhesive on the back covered them with Brown Bazzill Cardstock and then used BG alpha stickers for the rest of the title. The little arrow I mounted on grunge board and inked the edges is to lead the eye down to the journaling. TFL! and stay tuned for more DT entry projects.

Tools:
Paper: Basic Grey Archaic, Bazzill Brown
Ink: Choc Chip
Stamps: none!
Accessories: BG Buttons Rubon, Stickers, Chipboard Alpha, SU Ribbon in Wild Wasabi stiched and choc chip satin, Felt Dino by Fancy Pants, Tim Holtz grunge board and binder clip, dmc floss
Tools: tim Holtz distress tool, file, threading water punch

Friendship Blooms

I've been on a card making kick! This is an image I got from PIF. It was in the SU mini catalog and I really liked it but wasn't sure I needed to own the set! I watercolored this by using my SU markers and coloring onto the case of a SU set. You then use you aqua pen to pick up the color and color your image. It's one of my fave techniques. And I think I'm getting pretty good at it! This image however was VERY hard to color! It was hard to tell what was leaves and what was flowers. I went with a purple flower - think pansies - the centers are yellow - very small hard to see. I then matted the image twice and used a double matte for the card base. I stamped the sentiment from PTI Green Thumb in Elegant Eggplant and added some white buttons with some DMC floss that I attempted to color with my SU markers - not nearly as easy as ribbon or pretties let me tell you! But it worked in a pinch! I hope these are posting as we are actually on our mini vacation visiting Andrew's parents right now!
 Tools:
Stamps: Bloomin Beautiful by SU, Green Thumb by PTI
Ink: Basic Black, Certainly Celery, Elegant Eggplant, Summer Sun
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Certianly Celery, Perfect Plum, Whisper White by SU
Access: White Buttons, DMC floss
Tools: Aqua Pen, SU markers, SU plastic stamp case

Got Vellum? SS Blog Challenge

So I got this new stamp set at Hobby Lobby for 30% off! It's by My Sentiments Exactly and I think it's so cute! Admittedly I am not that into the birds and owls and such but I HAD to have this one! The bird is attached to the swirlies and all those sentiments - they fit perfectly above the swirl! How cool is that?!
As mentioned in an earlier post this week is the Dare to Get Dirty week on SCS! This card is for Laurie's Got Vellum? challenge. I live vellum but don't use it NEAR enough! I love the softness it give to a project! For my color combo I turned to Serendipity Scrapbooks - the latest blog challenge is to use someone's blog layout/colors whatever and create a project with it! I went through everyone on the list and came up with two I thought would be neat to base a card on. The one I chose for this particular card is Chelle's blog check it out here! Do you see the colors? See the white flowers? This card was inspired by Chelle's blog for sure!
This is a simple card but with some unique details. I love how the embossing goes across the layers - I used my Versamark PEN to draw the stems! *Note* if you have an embossing buddy - use it! If you don't - get one and use it! I have one and forget to use it then spend 40 minutes editing my picture in Photoshop! I used white brads to attach the vellum to my CS. This was really fun! The Dare to get Dirty challenges will be going on all week! I will have lots to catch up on when we get back! My girl Lauren (mytime) posts her challenge on Wednesday - I can't wait to see what hers is! Hopefully you can join in and do a challenge or two! They are so much fun!
Tools:
Stamps: Little Birdie by MSE
Ink: Basic Grey, Versamark - ink pad and pen
CS - Basic Grey and Really Rust by SU, Summer Sunrise by PTI, Vellum
Other - White EP, White Brads
Tools - Heat Gun

Even Police Officers have Accidents

Or at least my hubby is involved in them! Another officer RAN OVER his foot tonight!!!! No I am not kidding! He's ok nothing's broken just badly bruised. He spent most the night at the hospital. And I waited up for him - why this is posting after 1 am when we are supposed to be getting a bright and early start tomorrow to start the 4+ hour trip to his parents. Right before our vacation of course! I hope he's not in pain and can enjoy the stuff we have planned! Night all just had to share!

Seize the Cupcake!

Have you heard? There's some DIRTY business going on over at SCS! It's the Dare to get Dirty challenge week! An elite group of 12 stampers work each month do design special themed cards and projects for the fan club gallery! Only SCS members that are members of the Fan Club can see their uploads. They are known as the Dirty Dozen. The group rotates adding two new members every month. Well in July there is a special week of challenges hosted by the Dirty girls! If you aren't a fan club member NOW is the perfect time to join! So one of today's challenges was issued by Jody Morrow - the ribbon goddess - as I call her! Her challenge was to choose your ribbon (surprise) and design your card around it! I have had this polka-dot ribbon forever! It was new on the roll with the plastic still! I let it guide everything the polka-dot cupcakes, the colors - BRIGHT - especially for me! And the large pink brads. I colored the images with my SU markers and they are raised up on glue dots. I made the sentiment the focus of this card punching it out in an oval shape and layering it on a scalloped circle. I have a friend I haven't given her birthday stuff to yet so she's getting this card - she likes bright stuff! Thanks for looking!!!!

Tools:
Stamps - unknown Cupcake set I got the images and sentiment from PIF

I am a sketch scrapper!!!!

I love sketches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are one of my favorite scrappin tools! They help me get my mojo going and are a great sense of inspiration! But where to get sketches?! Thought I would throw together a list of different sketch sites that I use!

Page Maps I think EVERYONE who scraps knows about Page Maps - the fabulous Becky Fleck and her monthly dose of a HUGE variety of different sketches from cards to 12x12 and more! You can sign up to get the monthy newsletter and there is an archive of old maps.

Got Sketch?
I recently disovered Valerie's blog Got Sketch - I love her blog because on her side bar you can click on how many photos and it will show sketches for that many photos!!!! She has lots of samples for each sketch and you can submit your lo's for different sketches.

Sketches by Tamara
Gotta note my girl Tamara from Scrap Freak! She posts sketches 4 times a week! She has card and LO sketches and also has them grouped by # of pictures!

Sketch This
58 sketches and counting! New sketch every week! I love this blog cause she shows examples of layouts and cards using the SAME sketch! Very cool!

These are just a few of my faves! If you know of a cool sketch site or blog let me know and perhaps I will add it!

Grrrrrr!

I made the CUTEST little card today for Andrew's cousin who just had a baby girl Addison. It was a tri-fold card that I used the slot punch and you tucked it behind the little tab. On the inside you I used the slot punch again to make it so it would hold a gift card! And I took a picture - but now it's saying invalid file format so I have no picture! :( so sad! Why oh why did I only take one picture? Cause I was in a hurry that's why - or rather Andrew was hurrying me - that's it - lets blame the hubby! Anyway we had fun at lunch with the cousins and Double G and Grandma Ray and Papa Tim. So I will just share those pics! I am working on submissions for the DT call over at Serendipity Scrapbooks! I want to submit them before leaving for in-laws on Tuesday. I am going to try and schedule posts for while I am gone - we shall see if it works!

Life is better in flip flops!

In my opinion anyway! I LOVE summer! I am a summer girl. I love the sun and being outside and staying up late and relaxing and taking my boys to the pool! I love wearing flip flops and tank tops! (Arms could use some work though). I realized that summer is almost over! Students start school August 20th! My first contract day is the 18th! The boys go back to Trina's the 11th! I have a workshop on character ed. the 28th and 29th of this month!!!! I also have several in August, two on smartboards, one on AIMS web pro, maybe one on our computer grade system Lumen (we don't do grades on computer in Kindergarten but I might go for the hours). I can see summer slipping away and I am sad - there is so much more I wanted to accomplish this summer! I always do that set all these expectations of everything I want to get done and fall short every summer! We still have our mini vacation next week to southern Missouri to visit Andrew's parents. Should be fun they are taking us to see a St. Louis Cardinals Farm Team Baseball Game, to Silver Dollar City, and out on their new boat on Table Rock Lake. Hopefully it's nice and relaxing. After that though my brain will start to switch gears to school mode! I am looking forward to this year - I do like the start of the school year in the sense of all the possibilities. We will have FIVE sections of kindergarten in my building this year!!!!!!! I am going to have no new curriculum but LOTS of new technology! Not changing a whole lot this year but a few things!

Well I guess I should tell you about the card! I have been wanting to try this with a flip flop image for awhile since I saw it on a blog. I stamped the flip flop image on whisper white cs and colored it in using my SU markers I then used my little bitty hole punch and punched three holes on each flip flop and cut 4 pieces of ric rac from CTMH. I threaded the ric rac through the holes and secured it on the back with regular tape. I am so pleased with how they turned out! Iused pop dots to adhere the image to the green piece since it was already bulky from the ric rac on the back. Then matted the green to a pink piece and to my card. Here is a close up of the flip flops.

The PP is from the promo pack at Archivers LAST year. I thought the dots complimented the dots on the flip flops nicely and I added more ric rac along the striped piece. I stamped the sentiment Life is better in flip flops down in the bottom right hand corner. The sentiment stamp is from a company called Morning Star Stamps they were at CKC last year. They are based in Kansas City Kansas and have some very unique images and sentiments, I hope they are there this year too! Very fun little card!!!!

Tools:
CS: Whisper White and Cert Celery from SU, Pink unknown

PP: From Archivers Promo Pack Summer 07
Stamps: Fancy Flip Flop by Stampabilities, Sentiment by Morning Star Stamps
Ink: Pallet Noir Inkpad, Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Ballet Blue Markers
Other: Hole punch, Green Ric Rac by CTMH, Pop Dots

Enabler Extrordinaire

Hee hee! I think that will be my name when I hit 20,000 on SCS! My girls always tell me I am the Queen of Enabling - for anything, clothes, shoes, craft supplies, phones, whatever! My SU demo is sad that I stopped doing hostess club cause I would go on and on about something and everyone would wind up getting it! I have an eye for things Iguess and a nose for a deal! I have always been a shopper! I recently finsihed reading the Sophie Kinisella "Shopaholic" books through Shopaholic Gets Married. In the books the main character becomes a personal shopper at a large department store in NY - wouldn't that be the most amazing job?! Shopping all the time putting together clothes for people and spending other people's money!!!! The books are hilarious and a great light read. But back to my whole point of this post!

Police Line - Being Crossed!

I always thought being a police officer ment that you were shown respect by the public. Now I totally understand complaining about the cop who gave you a ticket for only doing 4 over ~ trust me I've been there done that (before meeting my hubby of course!) But any other time I always thought of police officers as THE LAW, public servants, people who deserve respect. After marrying a police officer I had even more respect for the job they do considering what they get PAID! My husband has to wear a bullet proof vest to work, deals with people who are having a bad day most of the time, sometimes having the worst day of their life, and is shown no respect, no gratitude and could die doing it. Tonight I met Andrew at Burger King for dinner - high class I know but I will take what I can get. They do give him a discount when he is in uniform. However from the moment we walked in people were staring us down! I mean glaring! Every once in awhile I've seen people do that but tonight it was everyone in the resteraunt! One couple who was leaving walked by our table and made pig noises at me - ME (Andrew doesn't know they made noise he was waiting for our food - I just said they stared me down)! What did I do? Apparently I am equally hated for being married to a police officer! This of course spurred a discussion between us. I am going on about how I just don't understand why people HATE police officers sooooo much. And what are the chances of someone coming after me and the boys due to the fact that Andrew is an officer. I told him I don't choose to live my life that way -(he got all worried) - meaning I choose NOT to live in constant fear. He said that was good but not to be naive either - since apparently I can be a naive farm girl! While I think eating dinner with a police officer makes me safer it actually puts me at risk. I think having a police car present at our house several times a week makes us safer it actually makes us a target. So I suggested that the chances of someone actually targeting or harming us in St. Joe being small he says it's actually an equal chance, it only takes one person.
Ah well one more reason I can't wait to move out of the city limits! And the funniest part is that Andrew is soooooooooo soft spoken! If you met him off duty the only thing that might give him away is his haircut - people think he's military all the time. I tease him that he's the cop you WANT to get pulled over by cause he gives out more warnings than anything. I tell ya I am sure being a police officer is tough but being married to one I think I got him beat!

Always Two Scoops Card

This is a card I made for a sketch challenge on Serendipity Scrapbooks. I just love that site! Kristen the owner is super sweet! She stocks the store with all the latest and greatest must have items! The shipping is super fast and she includes a little bit of chocolate with EVERY order. The forum is always busy with all kinds of challenges and contests. There is something for every crafter whether you are a stamper, scrapper digi or traditional. Now for the card! The sentiment image is from the set Always from SU. I just love that set! I stamped it in purely pomegranate ink and then used my versamark pen to color over it and emboss with clear EP - I did this several times to make it look like a gel sticker. I had to hand cut it out cause would you believe I don't have a punch that coordinates?! I then layered it on a pretty in pink circle and that on a close to cocoa circle. The scalloped border at the bottom was made using my threading water punch! The patterned paper is from the 6x6 pad Two Scoops by Basic Grey. I love that line but chose the smaller pad ~ perfect for card making since I didn't think I would use it much to scrap for my boys! LOL! I used pink grosgrain ribbon and tucked it behind the pp, and tied two little knots. The flower is punched out of cardstock. The smaller one is an OLD SU button punch! The larger is the SU 5 petal flower punch. I used a pink rhinestone brad in the middle. TFL!

Tools:
Stamps: Always from SU
PP: Two Scoops from Basic Grey
CS: Whipser White, Purely Pomegranate, Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa all from SU
Other: Pretty in Pink Grosgrain Ribbon from SU, Old punch and 5 Petal punch also SU, Pink Round brad from the SU fire collection, Threading Water Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Versamark Pen

Party Like a Blog *STAR* CASE!

Over at Serendipity Scrapbooks they are having a Blog Party all month long! How fun is that?! Lots of motivation to blog and scrap sistahs coming to your blog and leaving comments! There are also some challenges! This particular post is for a challenge to CASE (copy and share with everyone) or scraplift a layout of a fellow blog *star* and post it on your blog of course! I chose to CASE Jen at (Simply Wonderful). I love her blog and we have similar styles and she's also my partner for the Team Challenge at Serendipity! This is the layout of hers I chose to case. Isn't it GREAT?! As I was perusing her blog trying to decide which layout of hers to use it just jumped out at me! I was kinda looking for a LO with white space - I needed one of those for Challenge # 10 over at Totally Random! So this layout (mine not Jennifers) will be appearing over there too!

The layout I did is the title page for my baby's album. He's only 9 months old so I figure I am doing pretty good keeping up! (ok maybe not) All my paper is by MME except the cardstock the photo is matted on which is Blue Bayou from Stampin Up. As you can see I kept the general layout and colors the same just tweaked the papers and sizes a bit. I loved the ric rac on her LO and so I used some on mine I bought the Ric Rac collection from CTMH it is so neat! Several different colors and sizes of ric rac! Mine doesn't have the title really or journaling - Just the big chipboard B for baby Blake! Right under that is his name and date of arrival! The big chipboard B is from Cosmo Cricket - the buck naked (giggle) chipboard that has alphas and lacing cards and other elements. I am going to make a lacing set for the boys but had lots of extras and thought it would be cool on this page. I painted it with MM scrapbook paint in Shopping Bag! (perfect for me lately! need to stop though) I then threaded and tied some Blue Bayou stiched ribbon in the holes. I am finally liking Blue Bayou and it retires in a month! I also used Blue Bayou stiched ribbon going across the page. I got to use my new Threading Water punch - I am loving it! It is a smaller scallop than I thought. I am hoping I will be able to layer it with the new scallop border punch SU is coming out with! We shall see. Thanks for looking and thanks for the inspiration Jen!

Tools:
PP: All by MME
CS: Blue Bayou from SU
Ink: Choc Chip Stamp and Write Marker from SU
Embellies: Chipboard B from Cosmo Cricket, Blue Bayou Stitched ribbon from SU, brown ric rac from CTMH
Other: MM Paint in Shopping Bag, Threading Water Punch, Glue dots,

PSE, PSF, IRL

LtoR: Cheri, Me holding Adelaide

That's a heck of alot of acronyms I know!
First off PSE - Photoshop Elements - I made it back down to KC and to Nebraska Furniture Mart and I got my PSE - for PC's!!!!! It is all installed and everything but it is much harder than I thought. I have done little bits with it but not much!!!! If anyone out there has any tips or links to PSE for dummies I would greatly appreciate it! I am used to being good at things and picking up on things quickly - this not so much - which scares me cause if I am not good at something I tend to not do it and I WANT to use PSE in general and try some digi!
On my little trip to KC I got to meet a PSF - Pretend Scrampin Friend!!! I got to meet one of the girls I met on SCS - more specifically the Poochy Mamas - actually when we met we were Preggos! I got to meet Cheri and her little doll baby Adelaide! We had so much fun! It was so cool to finally meet this wonderful friend I have been chatting with for over a year! We shopped and ate lunch and went to a scrapbook store! I can't wait to do it again!
IRL - In Real Life - My summer is CRAZY - I thought summer was a time to slow down, relax - so much for that! Summer is slipping by so quickly and I am not getting nearly as much done as I wanted! I have finsihed two layouts and a set of altered letters that I need to get pics take of and then I will have some new stuff for ya!

A Boy's First Hero................

">
Hero

..................is his Daddy of course! This layout captures that idea for my hubby and our youngest son, Blake. I wanted pics of Andrew and Blake with him in uniform but Blake doesn't like it cause daddy is HARD (the vest, the radio, the gun, you get the idea) So I took these pics one night after Andrew got off work but he still had his SJPD uniform turtleneck on. I just love how it turned out! I hand stamped the title using Headline Alpha and my stamp -a-ma-jig - if you haven't ever tried one you really should! And have someone who knows what they are doing show you - I love it cause now I can stamp perfect titles!!!!! The journaling is also stamped but it is using Papertrey Ink's Simple Alphabet. I just love their stamps! And paper and ribbon and ink! This is using SU's I'm here Boy simply scrappin kit and a Janurary sketch from Page Maps. Oh and here is a close up of the journaling. It also shows the doodleing around the letters and on the blue stars that I did for some details. Thanks for looking

Also known as! This scrap layout is of my little guy at 3 months. Isn't that picture hilarious! I still can't decide if I like it or not! I did this LO for a contest over at Scrap Freak it was to use an exclusive only for scrap freaks Page Maps sketch. It was a really cool sketch! The alpha cut out strip in the background was created using my friend Natalie's Cricut Expression and the design studio software. It is soooooo cool! She is supposed to email me the file so I can link it here so you can download it. I will also tell you the font cartridge I used when she reminds me. See I don't have a cricut - she does and so I just use hers. I did buy my own 12x12 mats so I am not using hers up - and I will buy her next set of blades if she lets me bug sit while she's at Disney later this month (ARE YOU READING THIS). Back to the layout. Started with a certainly celery base and used OLD basic grey papers called Baby Jack - not available anymore but I love them! Who am I kidding I love anything Basic Grey and especially BOY that is why when I saw it used on someone's layout in some gallery I had to hunt it down on ebay! It is a really pretty line of soft boy papers perfect for baby LO's. I used the page with the script on it to carry the theme of the letters. The larger pic is offset just a bit and the matte is distressed and inked. The smaller pic is matted in choc chip to make it POP off the page. The journaling strip is very vanilla CS torn and inked. The title is pale blue CM stickers on choc chip oval punched with my PINK Marvy oval punch and layered with a certainly celery PURPLE Marvy scalloped oval punch. I added some brads just for fun and paper piercing. The journaling talks about all the little nicknames we have for Blake - I never had nicknames for Kaden really but Blake I have tons! Boo Boo, Blakers, Piglet, Blakey Boo, Peanut, Baby B and more! Oh and see how the right side of the alpha strip is kinda crooked??? I fixed it!!!! And Mr. Blake is 9 months already!!!! WHAT?!? How did THAT happen? They grow up sooooo fast! Ok I am sad now. Thanks for looking!

Basic Grey Blush Card

Basic Grey Always
Here is a card I made awhile back but I LOVE it!!!! IT is one of my favorite cards I have ever made. It uses the set Always from Stampin Up. This is quite the set! I think it has so many stamps and can be used for several different types of cards! The heart and the bird are more sophisticated while the flower and circle with the a are more whimsical. And the small circle images work with the build a brad! Funny I wasn't sure I liked it when I first saw it but I kept coming back to in and then I checked out the gallery at SCS and that was it! I HAD to have it! This card features the heart image which just BEGS to be embossed. So I stamped it in choc chip and very quickly poured clear EP on it and luckily it worked - I need to invest in some of the craft ink pads - maybe the spots! The image is stamped on very vanilla cs for a softer feel. It is then double matted on two pieces of BG Blush pp - I love how they look all distressed and painted! I did distress the edges of all three more with my Tim Holtz distressing tool - love that thing! For the rest of the card I started with a very vanilla base and on the top used a piece of pretty in pink cardstock that I ran through my sizzix big kick using the Birds and swirls cuttlebug folder. The bottom is another piece of BG Blush pp. In the middle I put a strip of striped BG blush paper and added a little ribbon ~ cause you ALWAYS need a little ribbon! When it came to placing my image I COULD have put it in the middle but I try to remember the rule of thirds and went with off to one side. That is one of my biggest tricks - rule of 3 and thirds. Doesn't ALWAYS work but pretty good standby! Thanks for looking!

Waiting.........

not so patiently I might add! (ok so maybe the picture is a tad bit melodramatic) Andrew and I bought a new computer on Wednesday. We needed one - badly! It's super nice! It is a HP with a 19 inch flat screen monitor. With the gift card we recieved for purchasing the computer we got a new printer too! A HP with individual ink cartridges something I wanted (so when one color runs out as it often does with me printing things for kraftin, only have to replace that color!). Andrew also let me get (he's so good to me) PHOTO SHOP ELEMENTS! I am so excited! I can start dabbling in digi! HOWEVER - my techie friend Natalie came over to help set up the computer and she informed we that he gave us the MAC version! BOO! I called and they will exchange it but the next day I can drive to KC is Thursday! So I have to wait. But, I do get to meet one of my online stamping friends that day for lunch! I am sooooooo excited about that. So in the meantime I am playing with my new super cool computer and downloading every free digi thing I can find! I am waiting to upload pictures till I have my PSE too! So I am stuck with stuff I have uploaded to photobucket! Since Andrew hasn't hooked up the printer yet (I am good with using computers - not so much with putting them together and such). So that's all! If you have any PSE tips, or new computer tips to share with me that would be great!

Maui Title Page

Maui title page

This is the title page for our Honeymoon to Maui page. It has been almost 2 years! About time I got to work on it! This was created using a Page Maps sketch. Circles are HOT right now but I know several people struggle with them (Jodes *wink*). I love the way this LO turned out! The base is pp from HL, then the other two pp are from SU's afternoon tea. The vertical strip is torn and inked along the edge. The horizontal piece also has soft sky stitched ribbon along it. Instead of a picture cause I was having trouble picking one I used a map I tore out of one of the books we got there. I matted it on choc chip cardstock. After adhering it I faux stitched in a circle using a CM circle template to guide me. The flowers are along the stitching and nestled in with the two little pictures. They are inked using Wild Wasabi, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky and Close to Cocoa - in the centers are clear dew drops, skittles, baubles whatever they are called where you are from! The circle is groovy guava CS and on it I stamped the word MAUI in choc chip ink stamps are from an OLD company called Leaving Prints (out of business). I then hand wrote/doodled the rest of the title. TFL!!!

Tools:
PP - Base from HL, SU's Afternoon tea
CS - Choc Chip and Groovy Guava
Ribbon - Soft Sky double stitched
Ink - Choc Chip, Close to cocoa, wild wasabi, groovy guava, soft sky
Other- Clear Baubles, Paper Piercer, White Gel Pen, CM circle cutting system, LP Stamps, Choc Chip Stamp and Write Marker

FREEDOM

Today right now as I type this when I think about FREEDOM and what it means to me ~ I think about the PRICE it costs to be FREE. There are thousands of families without their loved ones on this holiday and others because they are keeping us free! My take on this is a little different than some. I DEFINITELY am referring to ALL the men and women in any branch of the military whether serving at home, abroad, reserves WHATEVER! I thank you for giving your life to protect my family. But I am also to referring for another group in uniform who keep our streets safe and work day and night with no "weekends" or holidays off - Police Officers - yes they get to come home at the end of their shift but sometimes that shift lasts an extra 5,6,7 or more hours and even if it is Christmas morning they stay and take care of business, they put away the bad guys. Yes I am biased ~ I am married to a police officer who is the son of a police officer. There are lots of others that come to mind as well deputies, firefighters, EMTs, ER nurses and doctors. So today on the Nations birthday remember ALL the men and women in uniform and the next time one helps you out - thank them.

4 Years Ago Today at 4:34 pm I became a Mommy!

I can't believe it has been 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!! My BABY is 4 today! YIKES! This time 4 years ago I had a suspicion that I would be having a baby. I had pink show and grabbed my "What to Expect When Expecting" book and read and e-mailed my friend Jen who had 3 kids! She said walking could help "speed up" the process! So I took a walk and sure enough - contractions began!!!! I had an hour drive to the hospital so I called ahead and we got there around 12:30 pm. Things progressed VERY fast and the doctor almost didn't make it! I believe they said - STOP pushing his head is out! He was a perfect baby!!!!!!!!! I am showing you a picture of the announcements I made to send out. I did everything on the computer then matted it on two colors of paper - I think it was Creative Memories. There is no ribbon or anything! These would be a great simple announcement and you could even jazz them up with some ribbon or something.

Also in honor of Kaden's Birthday, and over 1000 hits I am offering up some TREATS!!!!!!! But you're gonna have to work for this one! I am going to give you a color challenge - your job is to create a CARD, LO, ETC using the colors and link to here in the comment section. I will chose a winner at the end of July and they will win a nice little prize - a birthday goodie bag (birthday card/scrap stuff). Your color combo is - Night of Navy, Real Red, and Whisper White (these are SU colors) I will post a sample later!

Oh and today we are:
* going for a walk - Kaden gets to go with me and ride his new BIG wheels
* going to a movie - "canned" film festival - food drive thing in our town
* going swimming
* having Kaden's choice dinner
* having DINO cake and ice cream
* opening presents
* tomorrow we are going to KC and going to T-Rex Cafe
Should be a GREAT birthday - don't you think?!

Who is the Krafty Mama?

Hi I'm the Krafty one! :) I'm the Queen to 2 little knights and a sweet princess. I married my knight in shining armor (kevlar) over 8 years ago and I am a REAL mom, wife and substitute teacher trying to be the best I can be! I love "krafting" but tend to buy more supplies than I actually use. I love make up, nail polish, hair products and fashion but have been known to leave the house in sweats a messy bun and no make up! I love to cook and bake but am guilty of feeding my kids McDonalds in a pinch. I love direct sales and have joined too many to mention! I would love to get to know you!
