Not feeling well

Thought I would have a super post for you today but the evil COLD had other plans. I think I have my first cold of the season :( boo hiss! I seriously feel like I was hit by a truck! I am going to rest up and hopefully have a post with scrappy goodness for you tomorrow cause this coming week is going to be a rough one! It is parent/teacher conference week - another reason this cold is particularly EVIL! Later my friends!

Pink Twinks - Find A Cure

The pink continues! All this week the challenges on SCS are going PINK in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Today's Try a Technique Challenge was Penciled Pink Twinks - using watercolor pencils and twinkling H20's. I had to change it up a bit since I don't have Twinking H20's. I stamped my image the ribbon in SU's Pretty in Pink and then used my markers to shade some areas with Pixie Pink. I then used my aqua pen and some Perfect Pearls to paint over the stamped image. It worked great! So shimmery! I cut my stamped image out and then inked the edges in Basic Grey and Stamped the Find a Cure in Basic Grey as well. I then straightened the sentiment and stamped it repeatedly on the pretty in pink cs to create a unique patterned paper for my card! The scalloped piece is SEI patterned paper that I used the Threading Water punch on and then finished it off with some sheer "wedding" ribbon from HL and some little adhesive rhinestones - those two seem to be showing up on a lot of my projects! Oh and the cut out ribbon is popped up on dimensionals. I am giving this card to one of the secretaries at work. She is a BC survivor and one of the most awesome people I know! I used a sketch for the card from my new blogger friend Liz's blog Scrapbooking, Sketches and Life, oh my! It was a great sketch and she also created a 12x12 layout with the same design! Check it out! Don't forget to scroll down and check out my BLOG Candy!

Think Pink! and 100th post!

I just noticed as I signed into my blog that this is my 100th post! That is certainly a milestone so of course there will be candy! More on that in a sec! You should know by now that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I don't know anyone who doesn't know at least ONE person affected by this horrible disease. We all have someone, family or friend. So this week over at SCS they are going PINK! All the challenges this week will have a pink feel to them. I hope I can join in on some! But to kick off PINK week and in honor of BCAM here is a little pink card of my own!

This is a wedding card I made for my cousin who got married last weekend. I couldn't go due to CKC. But I wanted to at least send a card with a little somethin inside! I stamped the big heart from Always twice on white and black in versamark and then embossed them using CTMH's silver pearl EP - it is so pretty - not a real strong silver. I cut them out, cutting the white layer down more and then layered them added some sheer ribbon and bling and that's about it!

Tools:
CS: Black, White, Pretty in Pink
Ink: Versamark
Other: CTMH Silver Pearl EP, Sheer Wedding Ribbon from HL, Adhesive Rhinestones

Oh and the candy! Leave me a post that has something to do with the word pink or your story about someone with BC and I will let Kaden draw one out to win a small little pink goodie box!

It's VSBN Weekend!!!!!

Let's get ready to SCRAP!

We are right in the middle of VSBN weekend. The challenges started last night and continue through tomorrow. So head on over to SCS and get your scrap on! It has been a lot of work coordinating this but with the help of my new friend Jenn it has gone really well! We made some changes and tried some new things and I hope everyone is enjoying themselves and getting lots of layouts done!
I did one challenge for this weekend, a team spirit challenge which is a color combo challenge based on a football team's colors - so of course I had to go with my KC Chiefs! Here is my LO for an example.

This is my son on his first day of Pre-School at Miss Jane's! He was EXCITED to say the least! We were so lucky that our sitter Trina is able to pick him and another little girl up from pre-school the one day a week that they go! This is based on a sketch that was on Totally Random a while back. I thought it was cool but couldn't share it till now cause it was for my challenge! If you want to check out VSBN click HERE!

Tools:
CS: Red AC, Basic Black, Close to Cocoa from SU, PTI Summer Sunrise
PP: School Print from Michaels
Ink: Whisper White and Black journaling pen

CKC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here they are - my pics from CKC! For those of you who don't know CKC is The Creating Keepsakes Convention - there are several locations across the US every year and they stretch out all year! Check it out HERE to see when the closest one to you is!

First some background info - sorry to those of you who just came for the pics - we will get to those I promise! What can I say I like to write! This was my second year attending CKC in Kansas City (or anywhere) Last year was my first experience of ANYthing of the sort. I was totally and completely OVERWHELMED! But I loved it! Last year I went with two friends I work with - their first times too. I also had Blake who was 10 days old at the time! He was VERY good btw. I took two classes last year, mostly to pass the time while my friends volunteered - I couldn't with Blake. I took a Baby Accordian album from Scrapbooks-n-Stickers which was fine and the Latest and Greatest by Shelby at Embellish-it. Both were good. The vendor faire was amazing and again overwhelming! I just walked up and down the aisles in awe! One thing was for sure last year - I was in love and this was going to be a yearly event!
FAST FORWARD to this year! I was hoping to take off work Friday and stay overnight and well that didn't work out and I wound up going BY MYSELF! Scary! I was kinda nervous but it was fine! Scrappers are such nice people! I went down for Saturday only and didn't rush too much. I checked in with the volunteer table cause I had signed up to TA - or be a Teacher's Assistant. I got my vendor faire passes and my half off coupon and my $30 voucher. I then went to the CK booth and chose a t-shirt for half off. It's pink and cute and v neck! Then I went and looked at the class samples trying to decide which class to take - I couldn't make up my mind so I decided to check out the vendor faire. I had a wish list and I was trying to stay within a VERY small budget. I went in turned left and started down the furthest row. The first booth that really caught my eye was PK Glitz - you got it GLITTER! There was a man (Jim I think) demoing embossing powders when it hit me - Powder Keg! I had read about their embossing powders in my blurfing. But it wasn't really him that caught my eye it was Janelle and the GLITTER!

Meet Janelle of PK Glitz formerly known as Powder Keg. She began a little demo as I was standing there, showing passerbys how to use PK's sticky paper and their hand dyed glitter- which matches their embossing powders! Isn't this pumpkin ADORABLE? Know what she did this with? A brass stencil! So pretty! Then she asked my name and gave it to me! I plan to chop off that part and turn it into a card! Watch for that soon! And it was so fast and so easy! There was a show kit but sadly my budget couldn't afford it! I am hoping to get some glitter though with my birthday money here in less than a month! I checked out the website which you can check out too HERE but the cool starter kits weren't there or any of the fine retailers. I am going to email Janelle to tell her about my blog post and ask how to order the starter kit!

Then I continued down that asile finding my highly sought after Pink Paislee Trick or Treat stamps! YAY! Last package in the whole vendor faire! It was my day! I turned the corner and was thrilled to see more BLING!!! It was a Tattered Angels booth! I hadn't even seen them on the vendor list! I was so excited you see I have a bottle of Glimmer Mist - everyone was talking about it on SCS so I figured I needed it and added to my order from not even sure where but I have never actually used it on a project. I've tried, I've started to but it's never made it to a finished project! Needless to say I needed help and so that's what I said when I sat down! And was shown by the owner Wendy Singer how to use the products!!!! She was sooo nice and funny and patient with my slow picky self! I made this cool tag using the glimmer mist and one of thier screens and then some glimmer chipboard for the own and his crown! It is so cool! I am in love! I want it all! I had NO idea what all you can do with this product! You can use it on raw chipboard on flowers, on acrylic, as a stamp! I am just amazed! You can check out all the AWESOME products HERE along with more demos but I recommend seeing it live!Oh and be on the look out for the tag and chipboard on a future scrap LO!

The other booth I HAD to sit down at for a DEMO was the Spellbinder's booth. This is the company that makes Nestabilities along with other dies that cut, emboss and stencil. This is another one of those everyone else has them I must need them! But really I had seen some very pretty SIMPLE cards made using these things (nestabilities or nesties) and honestly seems like every other card on SCS is using them! All my fave peeps use them Nichole, Lauren, Dawn and more! So I had them but I wasn't sure the correct sandwich for my Big Kick and I wanted to hear it STRAIGHT from a spellbinder's rep! This is Mary - doesn't she look happy to have me taking her picture?

She was very nice and VERY tall (6'3). She demoed a pretty rose die and then airbrushed it using the die as a stencil which was cool and I think I want copics just for the airbrush! That thing is cool! She also gave me the OFFICIAL Spellbinder's sandwhich guide! YAY I will finally be confident enough to bust out my nesties and use them! I hope! Check back later to see if I follow through!

I made two make and takes, one was the clear tag which was very cool using Alcohol inks and I don't even remember what booth it was all I cared about was making that tag and it was so worth $1! Be on the look out for it on a layout and more projects with involving alcohol - inks that is! Or hey you never know around here! The other was the card at the Archiver's booth. Simple but heck free!

It was almost time for me to volunteer so I HAD to choose a class and quick! I hemmed I hawed I read the descriptions 50 times and looked at the projects. I knew I wanted to make some layouts feeling those would be most "useful" instead of a mini book or home decor element. I was thinking a Heartstrings class which I had never heard of Heartstrings so I was leary or a Quick Quotes Canvas class ( I know I said no home decor). Then for a moment I considered the Connect with Cath class as in Cathy. I mean I wasn't sure it could be worth it I wasn't that "in" to scrap celebrities anyways now Lauren Meader or Nichole Heady? Yes please! But I had started to read Cathy's blog Bits and Pieces a while back and she was so flippin funny! So I asked the girls at the sign up for classes desk if the layout was 12x12 and one chirped up and said oh yes it is but you get other stuff too, just some of her fave products! The class is awesome take it you will love it and she does giveaways. Well ok I thought I will take the class. The class was AWESOME! It was amazing! Cathy is so real and true to herself and honest and inspiring to me and trust me I've seen A LOT of inspirational speakers (teachers must need alot of inspiring cause we are always having inspirational and motivational speakers!) Anywhoo - she ROCKED! She talked about her blog and her family and her scrap style and how it evolved and it really spoke to me and completely solidifed why I scrap and how I want to scrap and it was totally worth the money! So I then HAD to get my picture with her of course! Thanks Cathy! You were awesome! I literally cried and laughed at the same time!

Me and Cathy! Oh and it took 3 tries to get this!

Two of my fave purchases were my aforementioned Pink Paislee Trick or Treat Stamps from The Scrap Room booth and Bazzill in Stichz from Embellish-It. The Scrap Room was not a booth I remembered from last year - it may have been there but I remembered Embellish-IT and they are fab they are the ones who sponsor the Basic Grey Latest and Greatest classes. They have the Bazzill dyed to match the BG and other papers! I could go broke there very easily!

About being a TA. I totally recommend it! It was super fun! You don't always get the kits for the class - I didn't but that was ok. I was the TA for two classes and it was fun! They were card classes by a Home Party company and they pushed their monthly subscription kit pretty hard which annoyed me but I guess that's how they make money! I kept saying I am the CKC volunteer I am not with the company. And it made me glad I did NOT choose one of their classes. Harsh? Maybe but the girls themselves were VERY nice. Just not my style, not my thing! But I will definitely volunteer to be a TA again next year!

And here are the goodies I came home with! Quite a nice spread! And I really did NOT spend that much. I could have spent 3 times as much EASILY! Hello glimmer mist, PK Glitz, Spellbinders! Not to mention the papers and ribbons oh the ribbons, and so much more!
So my only question is - Can I go to the one in St. Louis? It's in April! I don't know if I can wait till next October!

LOTS going on! So get ready and pay attention!

It's like one of those announcements a college professor gives you before dumping some huge project on you with 3 weeks to complete and it completely consumes every second of your being for that next three weeks! I promise this won't be like that!

First of all I went to CKC over the weekend and it was AWESOME! More on that later!

Next this weekend is it - VSBN that is! Are you ready?!?!?! I am! I can't wait to scrap my little heart out! Though I am a wee bit nervous with coordinating it and all!

Babies are BAD for craft rooms - or rather 12 month olds! (I still think of both my boys as my babies and probably always will) Blake LOVES to come in here and goes straight for my ribbon and pulls it out of the container then proceeds to unroll it! OR goes straight for my SU markers and pulls them out of the container as fast as he possibly can!

Last - check out this new company I just discovered today while perusing SCS. I {heart} papers! What a great little site! The owner Kate has ALL the greatest products, Spellbinders dies, copic multi liner, Just Rite products and of course lots of GREAT paper! Check it out!

I have a card that I might post later and my CKC pics so check back soon!

Happy WCMD!!!

I hope everyone has a GREAT World Card Making Day and gets some quality stampin time! This day has an extra special meaning to me. You see last year on WCMD (Oct. 6) I was all set to work on assembling all but the crucial info and pics for the baby boy I was expecting. Well that and catch some good sales! Blake had a different plan! Around 1 pm my water broke however I was having no contractions or pain of any kind so I wasn't SURE it was my water. I ran to Target and some other errands during which my water started GUSHING! I made it home and told Andrew this was it and we got to the hospital around 4 pm. Blake was born at 7:00 pm on the dot! So I will always think of my baby on WCMD no matter what day it falls!

Here are a couple of cards to share with you today!

This card is my baby's birthday card for his party today! More about that later! I made this using Simple Birthday Thanks - you know that BIG cupcake! I love this stamp but hadn't used it yet! I paper pieced the top by stamping in white craft ink onto some patterned paper. I stamped the cherry on pure pom cardstock and the base on bashful blue and flipped it over after cutting it out and ran it through my paper crimper ~ which I think is maybe the 2nd time I've EVER used it! I stickled the cherry with Diamond stickles and the spots on the cupcake with Baby Blue stickles - also used those in the punched out area from the ticket corner punch. I tied some choc chip twill around the base and some bashful blue taffeta ribbon too!

This card is for one of the WCMD challenges on SCS! It was a sketch challenge and I {heart} a good sketch! This is old DP called Apple Cider - I really like it! The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and then embossed with COPPER ep! I don't know where it came from but I think it's perfect for this card! I punched that out and layered with more Apple Cider DP and ran some River Rock stiched ribbon through it! I added some cream DMC floss to the choc chip buttons and put one on each panel. Thanks for looking!!!!

Friday Night Scraps - Homecoming

Tonight is my turn to host Friday Night Scraps leading up to the SUPERBOWL OF SCRAP over at SCS. My challenge is called HOMECOMING.

Every high school and college that play football has it - Homecoming - that one special game where the hype is 10 times the others. The community comes out in full force and former students and especially players come back to support their alma mater!
Homecoming isn't just the game it's the spirit week with crazy theme days, the parade, the pep rally, the bonfire, the homecoming court and the dance!
Tonight is both the school district I work for GO SAVAGES, and the high school I went to GO BLUE JAYS, homecoming.
We have had spirit week all week leading up to today. School let out early and everyone heads to main street for the parade!
It is some of my favorite memories from both high school and college - homecoming week!

Ok for my layout...
This layout was inspired by the cover of a Simple Scrapbooks mag - September I think. The colors were drawn from the dimensional title.
The base is brown American Crafts CS - love this stuff! The journaling is on PTI Summer Sun cs and I used my threading water punch along the bottom and faux stitched a straight stitch at the top. The DP is SEI which I used my slit punch to create scalloped edges at the top and bottom. I doodled around it. I matted the picture of our house on Tempting Turquoise and faux stitched to look like XX's around it.
I tied some PTI spring moss twill across it making a bow and the Title is from Michaels and I used the MM multicolor on white tiny alphas - I am obsessed with those! TFL and come play with us HERE!

Who is the Krafty Mama?

Hi I'm the Krafty one! :) I'm the Queen to 2 little knights and a sweet princess. I married my knight in shining armor (kevlar) over 8 years ago and I am a REAL mom, wife and substitute teacher trying to be the best I can be! I love "krafting" but tend to buy more supplies than I actually use. I love make up, nail polish, hair products and fashion but have been known to leave the house in sweats a messy bun and no make up! I love to cook and bake but am guilty of feeding my kids McDonalds in a pinch. I love direct sales and have joined too many to mention! I would love to get to know you!
