Let me introduce you ~

~ to Milo.Milo is our kitty. We have actually had her about two months but I've been waiting to see if she was going to "work out". Translation - Kaden or Andrew or Flash didn't put and end to her. But so far so good! Kaden adores her although is learning about kitties and how they are very different from dogs. Andrew tolerates her ~ she has proved herself as a mouser already so he's happy about that! Flash (the dog) actually likes her! Blake thinks she the neatest thing and Milo really likes him ~ sometimes too much and bats at his feet when he's in the bouncy! I well I just adore her! She is Kaden's kitty but I love her! She is sooooooo sweet and tolerates alot from Kaden. She is so funny and a good mouser and I think I'm her favorite! I love all the funny positions she lays in! Check back tomorrow for my review of the ribbon ring and perhaps some blog candy as I am nearing 500 hits!

A Day at Krug Park

Yesterday we went to Krug park to get professional family photos take for our Christmas Cards - yes already! Krug Park is a beautiful park in St. Joe that is very old it has lots of good spots for cool pics! There are tunnels and rocks and old bridges and a "castle" and of course playground stuff. After the professional shoot I took some with my camera and then we let Kaden play. He was so good!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought I would share some pics and let you get to know us!

Life after the Storm

As some of you know we were hit EXTREMELY hard with an ice storm this past December. We were without power for about 5 days, some friends and co-workers were without even longer. I had to take the boys and go to my parents where there was power and HEAT while Andrew said at the house cause he had to work. The temperature INSIDE out house got down in the 30's!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many people suffered even greater hardships than just no electricity and cold temperatures. Falling limbs from the weight of the ice damaged homes and cars. Fires sparked from transformers blowing and people using candles or other means to try and keep warm. People lost all the food in their freezers and refridgerators and had horrendous heat bills from heating their houses back up!!!!!!! It was very costly to many.

Andrew and I went to Maui on our honeymoon. It was the trip of a lifetime. When we got back we bought a Hibiscus tree from Lowes to remind us of Maui. It is a real hibiscus - not a hearty one - it must be brought inside when the temperature gets too cold usually from October to April or May and it goes dormant. During the time of the storm it was not really on my mind but this spring when it was time for it to start blooming it wasn't! I was afraid we had lost it from the temperatures being soooooooo low in the house. But then - some GREEN! It was finally starting to leaf again and then eventually a bud!!!!!!!!! Which then bloomed! They are not the HUGE blooms like before but to think we almost lost it but it pulled through it survived! Just like us and our friends and family - we all survived we all made it through that storm and together we can make it through any storm - real or otherwise! Today my Hibiscus tree has FIVE blooms on it! So I wanted to share some pictures of it! I just love it! So does Andrew! I love how the second picture has the American flag in the background! I am pretty patriotic and it just goes along with everything I have said about making it through storms. Thanks for looking today and hope you don't mind my sappyness!!!!!!!

Try a Technique Tuesday - Rock and Roll

The first new technique I have for you is Rock and Roll! I read the tutorial at splitcoast and then we did it at club too!

The rock and roll technique is pretty simple but hey - anything that takes stamping to the next level is good right? Here is the link the the tutorial at SCS. Rock and Roll

You need a solid image stamp to do this. I chose the set True Friend. I love that set - even better that it is die cut!
I did the big medallion. Ink up your lightest color first - here groovy guava - then you roll the edges in the other color - I chose Close to Cocoa. Super simple!

So then I decided to do another image and make a card! I used the tri-flower and just did the tips. The card base is River Rock, then a layer of groovy guava corners punched with my CM fancy corner punch, then some Apple Cider DP (love it hope it comes out in fall catty) punched with SU's ticket corner punch. In the bottom right corner I used a sentiment from Simple Delights and stamped "Just Because You're You" in Close to Cocoa - I love that saying! I punched out the image with my PINK Marvy oval punch and layered it on a close to cocoa piece punched out using the PURPLE Marvy scalloped oval punch. I added my ribbon by punching a hole and threading it through then tying a bow I used Groovy Guava stitched ribbon. I just love this year's in colors! What am I going to do when they retire????????? Thanks for looking!

Tools:
CS: River Rock, Close to Cocoa, Groovy Guava - SU
DP: Apple Cider - SU

Punches: CM Fancy Corner, SU Ticket Corner and tiny hole punch, Marvy Oval and Scalloped Oval
Ribbon: Groovy Guava Stitched - SU

Try a Technique Tuesday - ummm ok so this one is on Wednesday

Just two days into summer vacation and I have already completely lost track of what day it is!!!!!!!!!!! I am starting a new feature - Try a Technique Tuesday! Which would have been yesterday but with Memorial Day and all ~ Please forgive!
Anyway - I am relatively new to the STAMPING world so I don't know many tecniques, but in my monthly club I keep asking my demo to do new things so I can learn! So I have learned a few from her - I also LOVE the resources over at splitcoast! So each Tuesday I will feature a technique that I have tried! Nothing new and exciting just me trying new things and sharing - and if I can do it you can do it!

Mi Vida Loca and a scrapbook page!

Hi all! My life has been super crazy (mi vida loca) lately! I know I know EVERYONE says that - but this is the last week of school. We had a garage sale this weekend my parents were down we went out to eat with some friends and worked on the outside of the house prepping it for paint! This week is our anniversary, Andrew's parents are coming to town, we are painting the house, putting down flooring, cleaning the house top to bottom, taking pictures to use to help sell it, and have a BBQ for Memorial Day this weekend. Throw in the boys, the pets and life in general and it gets MUY LOCA!

Anyhoo - I just realized this weekend that I can stick my memory card into our super duper printer and upload pictures! WOO HOO! I was limited cause our computer is so old it doesn't support the software to upload from my new camera! So I could only scan in things like cards - no layouts - at least not 12x12. So I present to you a scrapbooking layout! FINALLY! My first love in papercrafting was scrapbooking and I think I am better at it - but I love the more instant gratification of altered items and cards.

This layout is of Blake's ultrasound pictures. I had 3 ultrasounds with him due to some of the problems I had! I started with a textured cardstock base - love that SU now has textured cs. Then I took a strip of patterned paper with a blue brown color scheme and spaced it so that I could slide tags behind it for my hidden journaling. I made the tags with my Sizzix Big Kick and tag die.The numbers and estimated arrival date are a font I downloaded - I am a FONT JUNKIE! It is called artiststamp and I used the RGB color codes I found on splitcoast to get the exact match to choc chip! I found the perfect paisley stamp and stamped in white craft in the corner to carry on the paisley from the patterned paper. The title I cut using my friend's cricut. She was also the one who said I needed something more to divide the paper for my little tag pockets so I paper pierced them and then hand stitched on them to make the pockets more defined. I really love this layout. My PPPM friend Jodes will tell you this is the layout that took me 3 months to finish!!!! But I am back in the scrapbooking groove and I am thrilled! It just comes so much easier to me. Here is a close up of the hand stitching. Funny how I can't sew to save my life but I can cross stitch! I used white DMC thread and just went up and down - super simple! The little bracket there is a chipboard sticker and I thought it was cute cause those two show that he was indeed a boy! They are pretty poor images - our hospital's ultrasounds are awful! I don't know why they just are! Some these days are so clear and crisp - ours are blurry and just look like a blobby alien! I am so glad that I have this memory saved - it was so neat - each trip for an ultrasound was so different! The first time it was just Andrew and I, the second we brought Kaden and he loved watching his brother on "TV"! And he liked getting pictures of his brother! The last time I went by myself and it was at 37 weeks so I was close! It was neat like a sneak peek right before his birth! I would have had two more before my due date but thankfully he showed up 10 days early. I will leave you with a picture of the tags. Tomorrow is my second wedding anniversary! YAY us! I have my card ready - will try and upload tomorrow - going to stop and buy my rose tomorrow after school. We are going out to eat - Olive Garden I think. His parents are coming into town and are going to watch the boys for us.

Where have I been and VSBN

I know I know I haven't posted in forever!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's what happens in spring - my life goes crazy for awhile. But I will be back! Oh and I was chosen as a VSBN hostess over on SCS!!!! How exciting! I will be hosting 3 challenges - 1 for the regular part and 2 for the afterparty!

Who is the Krafty Mama?

Hi I'm the Krafty one! :) I'm the Queen to 2 little knights and a sweet princess. I married my knight in shining armor (kevlar) over 8 years ago and I am a REAL mom, wife and substitute teacher trying to be the best I can be! I love "krafting" but tend to buy more supplies than I actually use. I love make up, nail polish, hair products and fashion but have been known to leave the house in sweats a messy bun and no make up! I love to cook and bake but am guilty of feeding my kids McDonalds in a pinch. I love direct sales and have joined too many to mention! I would love to get to know you!
