Project Life - My Way

I have been curious about project life/pocket scrapbooking for some time now. Actually since I was a Memory Works rep when Simple Stories was first launched so how long ago was that?

I knew I wouldn't do a two page spread for every week - I think it's cool the people that do but it's just not for me! I also knew I wouldn't go strictly pocket pages! I love my traditional scrapbooking WAY too much! I had the same problem with digi scrapping - love the ease and no mess but miss my paper! I still make digi elements to use and for my classroom all the time!

I sort my pictures on my computer by year and then by month so I decided why not do a monthly page in our Family album? Well and then I would of course need an intro page to each year too, which works cause January is a pretty slow month for us (after Christmas and all!). The more I thought about it the better it sounded, they would be quick and easy and help organize stuff for the kids layouts/albums! I love it!

So I bought the pages, and a TON of Simple Stories SNAP items and the Midnight Kit and Blush kit! LOL!

I am going to do 2012 (just made that decision while doing this page), 2013 and forward this way! Super excited about it! Might go back and do other years this way too - we shall see! I started by using month cards and putting them in protectors blocking off each month - I am finding this might not actually work due to picture layout amount of pictures etc! But for now I am going with it!

I am going to do a few pocket pages of events with tons of pictures here and there too such as the zoo, soccer, etc.

So on to the actual layout (is it still called a layout?)

I used Simple Stories Snap Life Basics for the 2013. I cut the numbers on my Cameo then punched the edge with a paper border punch and backed them with lined paper from the same basics pack. The 3 graphic elements I created in Photoshop. The 5 has our names watermarked over it. And then a family picture of us which I need to reprint cause for some reason there is white on the edges! Overall I am super duper happy with it! I completed it last night while scrapping with my two best scrappy friends! I also completed another 8 pages! That's what I call a successful night of scrapping!

What do you think?
Do you pocket scrapbook at all?
Do project life?
I would love to hear what you do and how it works for you!

Another day another layout or two!

I have two digital layouts for you today! They are very different from each other. However I like them both! The first was for a speed scrap at Scrap Matters. It is very much my traditional style. It looks like paper or traditional scrapping. I used the kit Boys Will Be Boys by Just So Scrappy. The flower is from the Shabby Princess free kit Happy Go Lucky. I used two of them and twisted one to make it fuller. This is such a good picture of my oldest son Kaden who is almost 6! He is in our yard playing on the Little Tykes play thing - he is of course at the very top of it! Dare devil!
My second layout is very whimsy and has a LOT of white space! The background is white with a little shadowing. I used the kit Octopus Garden by RebeccaB which you can find at MLAS for only $1 right now!!! This picture is of my oldest again (better do some layouts of Blake so we don't have any MORE sibling rivalry!). It was taken last summer at my sister-in-laws pool Kaden loves swimming and loved the foam water squirters they had! I changed it black and white and then gave it a old photo overlay texture. I love this kit it is so fun! It also has fish, and an octopus and seahorse - so cute! This works for the Inspired by Color Challenge for June at MLAS too!
So what do you think? Which style are you? Which style do you like better?

Every Dog Deserves a Boy!

I did this digi layout this weekend for the template challenge at My Life and Scrap. I used Ice Holiday for most of it which you can get in the store. The pictures are of my oldest son and his dog Flash. Flash is currently MIA, he got out Friday night and we can't find him :(. I had to tell Kaden Sunday when he came home - he was devastated! Poor guy. TFL!

Scrap Happy

So I was on a roll yesterday! I did 4 more digi layouts and a desktop! Woo hoo go me! However the focus for the rest of the week is going to be traditional scrapbooking as I need to start organizing supplies and making page kits for CKC - I am also going to a crop Friday night! Woo hoo! But here are the layouts from yesterday that I like - all of them were for challenges at My Life and Scrap there was one I didn't like so you don't get to see it! HA! And the desktop you don't wanna see that!

Up first this was for a template challenge - I LOVE templates they are like sketches for digi - and I LOVE me some sketches!!! I used mostly one kit for this also from MLAS Let's Hear it for the Boys Collab by RebeccaB and DBD designs The fonts are Nervous Rex and Army Hollow.

This next layout was for a Mystery LO challenge I pulled pieces from several kits to make my layout. I think that is unusual for a digi scrapper - most just pick a kit and use it - I start with a kit but also go by color. The title is an alpha and the top right is word art.

And the last layout - that I liked hee hee. This was for a font challenge. I already had the font! It's Will and Grace! Such a fun font! This time I mostly used Summer Drigg's freebie kit Boy Oh Boy. Love love love this kit! Use it all the time and it was FREE! I added the brads which are SU, the string and the tag that has the date and journaling.
Dang I have cute kids! HA!

Dino-riffic!

So with CKC Des Moines looming (July 8,9, 10 - hotel and classes booked!) I decided I better get my mojo going!!!! So last night I scrapped YAY! I managed to finish a layout and part of another! More on that later! I couldn't finish the second one because I can't find my SU black marker! Gasp! thinking maybe I should have more than one! I think I am either going to have to run get one today or order a couple from Amazon to have on hand! Anyway more on those layout later - after I photograph them and upload. This morning I was still feelin scrappy - yay! And so I did a digi layout!!! Woo Hoo! The layout is for one of my favorite online digi sites My Life and Scrap. It was a scrap lift challenge - always good for inspiration!!! This is how it turned out!
 Isn't my Blakerboo cute?!?!??!?
I used RebeccaB's Ruffy Saurus kit for this layout but did some color changing to better match the pictures! Thanks for looking!

I hate Missouri weather!!!!!

Interesting title for a post I know! But it is March 20 the first day of spring and we have *S*N*O*W*! EW ICK YUCK! And it is totally messin up my day! My day was supposed to go like this:
Zumba
Color Enhancing
few errands
shower
lunch
head to KC for a day of shopping and relaxing with my girlfriends!
dinner in KC
home late to watch New Moon with hubby!

However due to Mother nature that B!T@H, my day is not going as planned. It is way too dangerous for my mother to come down and get my boys! which was the vital key in this day's success! So I am home for the day most likely - still sending hubs out to get me New Moon however! Might run to KC tomorrow for some quick shopping (Gap, Old Navy, BR and Aero Friends and Family weekend!).

So I will share some digi layouts that I completed this week, since I have time to blog now!

This layout was for a Font Challenge on My Life and Scrap. The font is Pea Davey Caps. I love fonts so I was all over a font challenge! Rest is kit called Boys are Trouble from Scrap Matters by Jennifer Barrette.

This layout is using Haynay Designs kit Good Times All Around that she is giving away free on her blog HERE. It is because she is having a Creative Team tryout! My layout is of me and my girls - the ones I am supposed to be shopping with today! I love her designs her shop has the BEST kits in it - great variety!

Digi Goodness!

So I have been dabbling in some more digi!!!!! Friday night I did my first speed scrap over at My Life and Scrap. My wonderful "computer" friend Jac is on the team there and hosts speed scraps most Friday nights!!!!! I had fun and learned I truly AM a visual person and that I can not follow written directions for anything!!!! I also learned about drop shadows!!!! OMGosh! Here is my layout for the speed scrap - not in love with it but we will count it as my warm up!

Because then I decided to do the My Life and Scrap template challenge - they have two of these a month and I love templates so I was all over this one! Such a cute template!!!

And then I was looking for a Disneyish kit to make one of my co-workers a desktop for her computer - she's a disney freak and stumbled onto SCRAP MATTERS - I had been there before but forgot to bookmark it - don't ya HATE that?!?!?! But the items were still in my cart from last time!!!!! It was this family tree template I had wanted and then couldn't find again!!! So I got it and some other items cause they are having a HUGE sale right now!!!! So I decided to check out their forum and such since I LOVE the store! I found a color challenge for March - green and decided to play along! Here's my layout for it!

I love how this turned out!!!! I think I am finally getting the hang of this!!!!!
Stay tuned - more to come soon! I start my Cricut class on Tuesday through My Creative Classroom some "computer" friends and I are taking the Cricut 102 to learn more about our machines!! Yes I do have real life friends too and I love them but I love my "computer" friends just as much!!!
Oh and I have some new sea glass jewelry to share with you too!

Cure for Monday Blahs

a bright cheery layout! I did a blog train this weekend for Digiridoo - and picked up all the pieces to this I want Candy! kit! So bright and fun! I forgot to upload to the gallery but wanted to share! The picture is my cousin at her sister's wedding - isn't she cute?!?!?

I used an Andrea Gold template and then the freebie items from the kit. It was fun to do something pink and girly for a change! I am going to email it to her mom so she can do what she wants with it. They live in Alaska!

80 Years of Excellence

So as I posted yesterday we spent the 4th celebrating Andrew's grandmother AKA Double G's 80th birthday. We even had t-shirts to wear! It was a really good time!
Here is a layout I made of his grandmother. I think I will have it printed off, frame it and give it to her.

I used a template but changed it up, and all the papers and elements are random freebies, I knew I wanted to use yellow so I searched in picasa and made a new folder for the layout then used things in it to make layout! The alpha is called shake me though I don't remember who by it was of course also a freebie!

Fourth of July!

I just LOVE Independence Day! Maybe cause it's the only major holiday in the summer, maybe cause it's not about gifts or hearts, or eggs but just about family, and freedom!
Andrew is actually off today! Tonight is his grandma's 80th Birthday party!

I think I am finally getting the hang of digi!
Here is a layout I made using LAST year's 4th of July pics, using a template that I made!
But more on that later!

The papers and products are all from a freebie kit of Summer's, see link on bottom righthand corner of blog! I love her freebies! The July Border was a freebie from Scrappin with Liz - link also in bottom righthand corner!

Is it hot enough for ya?

I don't know about where you are, but here it is HOT! Has been ALL week! And our window AC unit downstairs decided to crap out! YIKES! We are installing a new one today! But it has been a very sticky week! I have been playing around with digi and photoshop some more since I finally got it reinstalled after a frantic desperate call to Adobe to beg for the product code! Let's just say hubby is STILL in the doghouse for that one!
Right now it is Jessica Sprague's Spraground's 2nd birthday! She's been giving away freebies, posting challenges, and having a HUGE sale! Check out all the details HERE! I took her self paced class Up and Running with Digi - and it was GREAT! I highly recommend her classes to learn digi! I also took Your Life Your Stories, Art of Organizing with Picasa, and am signed up for her FREE class that starts July 6th!

I played around with the Quick Page Jessica had as a freebie today - it was perfect since my skills are rusty! I need to go through the up and running class again! Really nice thing about the class once you sign up and take it you have the files and videos forever!

So I whipped up this layout real quick to share with you!

All I did was add the picture and journaling!

Who is the Krafty Mama?

Hi I'm the Krafty one! :) I'm the Queen to 2 little knights and a sweet princess. I married my knight in shining armor (kevlar) over 8 years ago and I am a REAL mom, wife and substitute teacher trying to be the best I can be! I love "krafting" but tend to buy more supplies than I actually use. I love make up, nail polish, hair products and fashion but have been known to leave the house in sweats a messy bun and no make up! I love to cook and bake but am guilty of feeding my kids McDonalds in a pinch. I love direct sales and have joined too many to mention! I would love to get to know you!
