I spot an owl, and a sketch!

This is for the March 7th Sassy Sketch - I started it and knew I was going to have to do a two pager with all the pictures I had - that and I am trying to do more 2 pagers for a certain sb store owner who I promote! ;) So I went ahead and made this page for the right side of the sketch! I really like how it turned out and I just love this Jillibean Soup spotted owl collection that I got at SCRAPBOOK CHICKS!!! It worked perfectly for this birthday layout but look closely you could so use it for many many other things!!!! TFL! STay tuned for the other half of this layout!!!!

Quick layout for you - one that almost sent me over the edge! I cut the paper wrong TWICE! lost the journaling spot and lost the embellishment, then my tape runner ran out! Needless to say I packed it in after that! But I managed to come back and finish it up and it turned out pretty good in spite of things!
I used the NEW To The Moon Line by Fancy Pants that I got from Christie at Scrapbook Chicks!

It is from the Gina K Designs set Oh Boy by Tami Mayberry I colored it with Copic Markers B95, B97, B99, R29 and R27 and Y00, Y35, and Y38 I then added some gold gel pen for highlights. I cut it out and popped it up. And now for the entire layout.
I used the Sassy Little Sketch found HERE. Thanks for looking!

Finished in 15?

I will be the first to admit ~ I am a slow scrapper! I like to measure things, get everything just right. My layouts aren't overly fancy but like them to be well done. So when my friend Natalie {Scrappy*Natty) suggested we try finished in 15 from ScrapbookChicks.com I was like - um sure whatever - she took that to mean yes! Finished in 15 is a LIVE broadcast where one of the Chics demonstrates how to make a page - or in this case 2 in 15 minutes!!!!!! Now in all fairness they do tell you how many pictures you need, patterned papers, cardstock and such, and in this case a dinner plate! WHAT?!?!? {Can you find the where the dinner plate was used in the LO?}So I gathered my supplies and pictures and sat ready at my computer for this 15 minute scrapbook page class! Meanwhile Natalie is skypeing me in a panic trying to find 4 vertical pictures and TWO patterned papers - she has issues with patterns! So we logged on to U Stream TV and waited for the show!
As the LIVE broadcast began there was a chat going and it was fun chatting with other scrappers. Then she got down to business and started the layout! OMG! There was no way to keep up! Not to mention the fact that my paper trimmer decided to come apart in the middle of cutting my first piece of paper! I managed to fix it and get back on track - at this point I didn't realize there would be a recorded version to refer back to later! It is VERY difficult to scrap and chat and watch the instructions all at the same time. But she most definitely finished the layout - while working upside down showing us in 15 minutes! Yes it was a simple layout and yes she had already done the same layout before in coming up with the layout for the show but still 15 minutes!!!!  And in that time I got my background paper cut, my paper trimmer fixed and my circle cut! Told you I was slow! The owners were on with us and asked for suggestions because they are going to do more in the future - yay! I suggested saying whether to matte the photos or not and like cut the circle ahead of time etc. So they are going to try and give those specifics before now :)
So after I finished chatting I got back to work on my layout. The background strip all the way across is Cosmo Cricket's Snorkel line - Yes I have been using a lot of it lately! What can I say I love me some Cosmo Cricket!!!!! The large circle is from the same line and I then trimmed off about 1/3 of it, cut it in half to go on both pages and attached it to the layout in the center on both pages. I matted each of my photos on cardstock and evenly spaced them on the two pages. I used chipboard thickers for my title from American Crafts - I just love thickers!!!!! There was quite the discussion about them during the broadcast! Apparently they no longer make the foam ones - but I know many Hobby Lobby stores still have them. Also apparently the vinyl ones are worthless! I have a package but haven't used them yet so we shall see! Any way I love them and love my title! I used strip journaling surrounding my title and then sat back and looked at my layout.

It was just too plain and too flat. I decided to add the date at the end and returned to my trusty thickers to create a pretty large date and then added some DMC floss just for some texture. Nothing major but a nice little touch. See the picture to the right for a close up!
That gave it a little more dimension and texture but it still needed something else. I decided to do some faux stitching around the circle - I just wasn't in the mood to fight the sewing machine! So I pulled out my paper piercer and went to town then used my white signo gel pen to create the stitching.

Since this layout is for our family album I decided to add some flowers - I try not to use too many flowers on my boys pages being well that they are BOYS! So I layered up some flowers attaching them with brads and glue dots and added some leaves underneath making a very nice little cluster to add to the layout. It was just the touch it needed! It gave the layout some more texture and a little more height so it wasn't so flat and gave me a chance to use up some flowers since eve though I don't use them very often I like them and like buying them! See the picture to the left for a close up of the flower cluster.
So all in all it actually took me probably about an hour and fifteen minutes but still faster than it usually does from start to finish! And it's two more pages DONE!

Who is the Krafty Mama?

Hi I'm the Krafty one! :) I'm the Queen to 2 little knights and a sweet princess. I married my knight in shining armor (kevlar) over 8 years ago and I am a REAL mom, wife and substitute teacher trying to be the best I can be! I love "krafting" but tend to buy more supplies than I actually use. I love make up, nail polish, hair products and fashion but have been known to leave the house in sweats a messy bun and no make up! I love to cook and bake but am guilty of feeding my kids McDonalds in a pinch. I love direct sales and have joined too many to mention! I would love to get to know you!
