Well it's 2014 - how in the heck did that happen? As you can see I am bringing blogging back in 2014! (Kinda like bringing sexy back only ...not) I have been away and I have missed it! Can we be real for a minute? I love reading blogs but they tend to make me feel inadequate! So my vision for my blog is REAL! REAL crafts, REAL recipes that a REAL busy mom, wife and teacher actually can do! So that's it peeps - keeping it REAL here at Krafty Mama this year!

Last Night for New Year's Eve I went all out for the kiddos and I to celebrate New Year's Eve - The Hubs had to work! I had balloons for each hour (except 9:00) starting at 5:00. The kids took turns popping them and then we would read and do whatever the paper inside told us to.

5:00 - Get dressed nice and clean up for a night of fun!

6:00 Make dinner and enjoy appetizers while it cooks

7:00 Play Disney Headbanz

8:00 Pop popcorn and watch Turbo

10:00 Dessert - cupcakes from Small Cakes

11:00 Make New Year's Resolutions

11:45 Get ready to Countdown and Toast at Midnight - then off to Bed

and my sweetie even got off work in time to make it home to ring in the New Year!

I am finally learning PSE!!! I only got it LAST July! Will share more about it on Tuesday for my tip! But check out this photo!

I turned it Sepia then added the color BACK to his eyes and the leaves around him! Loved this photo and some others but they had on junky clothes that SO didn't match and would have been hard to scrap, so I always turn them black and white or sepia! But I didn't know how to do that yet on PSE so I finally figured it out today with some help!

Hi peeps! *scroll down for another post - Christmas layout*
I have a decent camera - it's not a Rebel or anything but it's decent! Oh ok it's a Kodak Easy Share Z712 IS. It has 12x optical zoom and 7.1 megapixels. This is my baby here

Which is all great and dandy! But if you still know nothing about taking pictures that's not going to get you very far! So over break I thought hmmmm maybe I should learn more about what my camera can do and it's features! It's got ALOT! All I know is whenever my hubby takes a picture he bumps the dial and it turns out blurry! So I was investigating and found I could download my manual and save it on my computer which is GREAT cause I have NO idea where mine is - probably in the box but who knows where that is! So I downloaded it and started reading! WOW! I learned so much just from reading the manual - and I'm not even finished!
Then in my searching I found The Digital Photography School! He has a blog, forum and newsletter! Link to blog HERE. I did lots of reading and printing from this site! It explains things sooooooooo well!
So I guess my tip is - learn what you camera can do! Take pics on different settings and see how it turns out! This is for both photos to use on layouts and when photographing your projects to share! Never stop learning!

I made the CUTEST little card today for Andrew's cousin who just had a baby girl Addison. It was a tri-fold card that I used the slot punch and you tucked it behind the little tab. On the inside you I used the slot punch again to make it so it would hold a gift card! And I took a picture - but now it's saying invalid file format so I have no picture! :( so sad! Why oh why did I only take one picture? Cause I was in a hurry that's why - or rather Andrew was hurrying me - that's it - lets blame the hubby! Anyway we had fun at lunch with the cousins and Double G and Grandma Ray and Papa Tim. So I will just share those pics! I am working on submissions for the DT call over at Serendipity Scrapbooks! I want to submit them before leaving for in-laws on Tuesday. I am going to try and schedule posts for while I am gone - we shall see if it works!

A Day at Krug Park

Yesterday we went to Krug park to get professional family photos take for our Christmas Cards - yes already! Krug Park is a beautiful park in St. Joe that is very old it has lots of good spots for cool pics! There are tunnels and rocks and old bridges and a "castle" and of course playground stuff. After the professional shoot I took some with my camera and then we let Kaden play. He was so good!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought I would share some pics and let you get to know us!

Life after the Storm

As some of you know we were hit EXTREMELY hard with an ice storm this past December. We were without power for about 5 days, some friends and co-workers were without even longer. I had to take the boys and go to my parents where there was power and HEAT while Andrew said at the house cause he had to work. The temperature INSIDE out house got down in the 30's!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many people suffered even greater hardships than just no electricity and cold temperatures. Falling limbs from the weight of the ice damaged homes and cars. Fires sparked from transformers blowing and people using candles or other means to try and keep warm. People lost all the food in their freezers and refridgerators and had horrendous heat bills from heating their houses back up!!!!!!! It was very costly to many.

Andrew and I went to Maui on our honeymoon. It was the trip of a lifetime. When we got back we bought a Hibiscus tree

from Lowes to remind us of Maui. It is a real hibiscus - not a hearty one - it must be brought inside when the temperature gets too cold usually from October to April or May and it goes dormant. During the time of the storm it was not really on my mind but this spring when it was time for it to start blooming it wasn't! I was afraid we had lost it from the temperatures being soooooooo low in the house. But then - some GREEN! It was finally starting to leaf again and then eventually a bud!!!!!!!!! Which then bloomed! They are not the HUGE blooms like before but to think we almost lost it but it pulled through it survived! Just like us and our friends and family - we all survived we all made it through that storm and together we can make it through any storm - real or otherwise! Today my Hibiscus tree has FIVE blooms on it! So I wanted to share some pictures of it! I just love it! So does Andrew! I love how the second picture has the American flag in the background! I am pretty patriotic and it just goes along with everything I have said about making it through storms. Thanks for looking today and hope you don't mind my sappyness!!!!!!!
