February Julep Box

Good morning! I woke up with a horrible headache this morning :(
But I am still going to make some Rum Chata French toast that I saw on Pinterest
and help the kids with their Valentine projects and that darn timeline still!
How is your Sunday going?

So I already have my February Julep Box and have been able to play with the polishes a bit! I think they have superfast (one word cause it's that fast) shipping!
My box and my extras did come separately I don't know if that is usual or not....
This month

I love that you can go in and change which subscription you want EACH month! You can see exactly what you are getting!
This month I received 3 polishes and an eye sheen!

Here is the box right when I opened it!

First color is LOVE - It has a gold lid. Not sure what that means but isn't it pretty?
Can't wait to try it out!

Next up is JUDI - from what I can tell it is a Cream Dark Purple - this is one that will go on my toes!

And finally Kristen. It is a blueish gunmetal color. Much darker than I usually wear but I did try it out and have a picture at the bottom of this post! It is pretty but will probaby end up on my toes from now on though I am getting bolder!

For the eye sheen I chose PALE NUDE SHIMMER - I love this color! I think it will make a nice
warm base color and look GREAT with my Naked 2 Pallet!

This is not my picture I pulled it off of the Julep blog to give you a better idea!
I haven't left the house since I got it to try it out!

And finally I added on this - Party's Over Glitter Nail Polish Remover Kit!

This is what you get in the kit. I can NOT wait to review this! I have the HARDEST time getting glitter polish OFF my nails and had been searching Pinterest for ideas when I saw this as an add on for February!

And here is my quick Mani with Kristen! Such a unique color!

If you haven't ever subscribed to Julep's Monthly Maven and are interested I would love it if you would click HERE. Use the code FREEBOX and your first month is FREE! It really is the most amazing polish I have ever used!

Mani Monday

Today's Mani is the PERFECT matte gray polish!
ULTAProfessional Nail Lacquer - Smoke and Mirrors - the PERFECT matte grey!
It is a warm light grey. I am super impressed with how well it went on and stayed on!
It has a very strong chemical smell when applying!
Whole had - my sad little short nails! :( Winter makes them much more brittle and prone to breaking it seems!
And once one breaks I feel I have to cut them all short :(

Close up - getting better at painting! I still get to close to the cuticle though!
I also have very ridgy nails - anyone have any tips for that?

I am linking up with Glitter and Gloss Mani Monday.

Quick Mani Monday for you today!
Mani Monday
It's MLKJr Day so no school for us but it has been a rough weekend.
I am having some trouble with the Winter Blues!

I was hoping this super shiny polish from Sephora would help Cheer me up...and it did until it chipped!

nails inc. - Special Effects Mirror Metallic Nail Polish

I ordered it cause it was on sale, I have nothing like it and to bump my order up for free shipping!
It is still available and on sale for $5!

I am linking up with Glitter and Gloss!

What is your favorite top/bottom coat to prevent chipping? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Matte/Glossy Nails

Mani Monday

Trying out Mani Monday with a new link up I found. Mani Monday at Glitter and Gloss. I started to do my own nails after gels left them thin and a wreck!

I wanted to try matte top coat and I scored a good deal on the OPI one at Ulta in a Christmas set on clearance I had seen a pin on pinterest with nails that were half matte and half shiny on a diagonal so I thought I would try it out. I used Warm Me UP which I also got on sale after Christmas at Ulta.

So first I painted my whole nail with Warm Me Up

This was two coats seems a lil thin for two coats of OPI I wonder if I should wait longer between coats. Patience is my biggest problem when it comes to my nails!

I then cut tape at an angle and placed it across my nails and painted the bottom half with OPI matte top coat.
I then removed the tape and painted the shiny half with regular OPI top coat.

The matte top coat seemed to pick up the polish resulting in an even thinner appearance. This manicure chipped super fast too! :( Anyone have any tips for matte top coat? I need to go back and find the original pin and see if it link to a website or blog post with more information!

Candy Cane Nails

Thought I would get festive and try THIS pin. Obviously I am not as talented as the original pinner but for this REAL chick who was always struggled with painting her nails I was pleased!

I used Sally Hansen Extreme Wear Hard As Nails in White Out - which is a nice cheap white with good coverage and Red Carpet which is a very pretty sparkly true red - which I threw away after I was done! I had to re-do a couple nails and the red stained my fingers when taking it off! I looked like I was on the bad end of some horrible fingertip accident!
The manicure itself is pretty easy only changing the one nail which I think is super cute and fun! I was pleased with how many stripes I got - less than the original pinner but this was my first time trying anything like this. I used used scotch tape to create the lines. It was pretty easy and came off without taking polish off  - I want to say it was the "green" scotch tape if that makes any sense!
Thanks for checking out my Candy Cane Nails - how do you do your nails for the holidays? Anything special?

Enjoy the Journey,
Tess

Who is the Krafty Mama?

Hi I'm the Krafty one! :) I'm the Queen to 2 little knights and a sweet princess. I married my knight in shining armor (kevlar) over 8 years ago and I am a REAL mom, wife and substitute teacher trying to be the best I can be! I love "krafting" but tend to buy more supplies than I actually use. I love make up, nail polish, hair products and fashion but have been known to leave the house in sweats a messy bun and no make up! I love to cook and bake but am guilty of feeding my kids McDonalds in a pinch. I love direct sales and have joined too many to mention! I would love to get to know you!
