Mani Monday - Candy Cane Stripe and Julep Maven Box Reveal

Hello lovelies! I have my December Julep Maven box to share with you today and a Mani using the Julep polishes!  I have tried 3 different beauty boxes and I only still subscribe to Julep! They are my favorite! Yes they are 19.99 a month but you get $40 or more worth of product! If you are a big nail polish person then they are definitely for you!

Julep is a monthly subscription box. It is FREE your first month. Each month you will be notified that the window is open and you can go in and change your preferences and make color choices! I love the ability to choose. For every month you subscribe you earn points and you can earn more when friends and family try Julep. You can redeem your points for FREE Monthly boxes! It's more than just nail polish so don't worry about getting too much nail polish (Is there such a thing?) They have great eyeshadow, lip color, blush and body products as well! They have fun deals and limited edition boxes all the time too! If you would like to check it out I would LOVE it if you would use my referral link HERE.

On to the reveal already! I got two polishes and a beautiful eyeshadow this month! The nail colors are Ilga the deep winey red, and Sienna the beautiful shimmery gold. I used them both in the main below. Stunning, rich colors that are perfect for the holidays.

Here is a picture of the eye shadow. It is bigger than Urban Decay's individual shadows and is pretty close to their Booty Call (which is good cause mine is getting low) but maybe less pink. I think that is well worth $20!

Now on to the Mani!

First I painted my nails with a nice neutral from Julep called Alexandra.

Let that dry completely, then I put vinyls (you could use painters tape) at a diagonal across the nail.

Then I painted the whole nail with Ilga. Then slowly and carefully remove the vinyls. I find tweezers help greatly with this. Don't wait for the polish to dry, do this as soon as you are done painting.

I repeated on each nail and added thin gold stripes between the red (I use a striper brush).

And viola! A classy spin on a candy cane mani! I find it interesting that LAST December my very first mani I did and posted was a Candy Cane mani. See it HERE. I would say I have improved a LOT. I know I still have lots of room for improvement.

So what do you think?
Have you tried Julep? What did you think? What's your favorite subscription box?

Thanksgiving Mani Monday

Happy Turkey week girls and boys! I am so excited for Thanksgiving. We are going to my mom's on Friday after Andrew works his last day of patrols Thursday.
So befitting the coming holiday I have a Turkey/Thanksgiving mani for you today!

Isn't it fun?!? I did a little turkey on my pointer, brushed glitter on middle and thumb , chevron (using vinyls) and dots.

The base is Opi Samoan Sand. Some other polishes I used were Julep, Sinful, and Orly.

I had so much fun with this mani! I can't wait for the online Nail Polish sales for Black Friday, I have my eye on some indie polishes. Next week I will start my Christmas manis!

I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with your family/friends!

My first Indie Polish!

Last full week of classes before Thanksgiving! YAY! I have a craft day planned with a good friend this weekend at her beautiful new house as well! So let's get this week started!!!

I finally ordered an indie polish! It is from Mango Bunny an etsy shop. I ordered Pinkie Sense and Fabulousity inspired by My Little Ponies, my daughter LOVES My Little Pony so I HAD to order some for us to share! I love this polish! It goes on great, great coverage in 2 coats and only $6.50 a bottle, shipping is reasonable as well!

Just look at all that glitter! The only very small issue I had was with the top/applicator and that could just be my hands not being used to the size/style of the top. Definitely a minor issue!

And another shot of all that fabulous glitter! I can't wait to try some different styles with this polish! What do you think???

Fall Tree Mani

For this week's mani I decided to do a fall tree accent with dot tips. It was super fun! I think I need more thing brushes instead of using my dotting tools though so those are the next supply on my list!
All I did was paint a base of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons and then created a Tree with a Sinful Colors brown using my dotting tool. I then dotted using different polishes including Zoya, and Julep as well as Sinful for the "leaves" and tip dots. My nails are painfully short right now :(. I think it's the change in seasons getting colder here!! My cuticles are a mess too! What are your favorite nail growth and cuticle products?

Today starts my second week of subbing in 6th grade. Last week was good we will see if it continues! Kids are doing great!

Perfect Fall Mani Color

Well yesterday was my birthday and today I started a new long term position in 6th grade at one of our brand new schools Carden Park Elementary. I am nervous about 6th grade (mostly math) but excited for the opportunity!

This week I have the perfect Fall Mani Color for you! I don't really like orange but I love this color!
It's Tatiana from Julep and it is like the perfect Autumn Blazing Sunset color! I just love it!

This shot was inside but still so pretty!!! Look how it reflects the light!

Then this shot is out side (at a freezing cold soccer game, I am so glad the season is over!) I think it is just stunning! What do you think?

Halloween Inspired Mani Monday

This week I decided to do as many different Halloween nails as I could! I couldn't choose just one or two! So I did 5 different designs!

Here they are all together!

First up a pumpkin. I was most nervous about this design but it turned out quite well I think!

First I painted the nail the tan OPI Don't Pretzel my buttons then Sinful Colors Courtney Orange. With Sinful Nirvana which was on the display but isn't new and a green striper for the vine.

This drippy blood turned out great using the same base as above and then Sinful Colors' Ruby Ruby. It was easy to do using my dotting tools.

Next up, my favorite - the eyeballs! I painted a base of Sinful's Starry Night a glittery black that I LOVE! then used dotting tools to make dots in Courtney Orange, Innocent (cream neon yellow-green) and Snow Me White then went black with Black on Black dots all from Sinful Colors.

Also in this picture a Frankenstein inspired tip with Sinful Innocent and Black on Black. I wish the "stitches" looked better but for my first try not too bad.

And finally a spider web sorry it's kinda blurry I could not get my phone to get a good picture for the life of me! It is Sinful Starry Night again with white striper for the lines.

Which one is your favorite?

I used mostly polish from Sinful Colors and more specifically the Conjure Halloween line.

These are only 1.99 and can be found at Target and Walgreens. The display at Target was much larger and included some of their regular line too that I thought went well with this line.

Candy Corn Inspired Mani Monday

LEt it be known (if it's not already) I am kinda obsessed with candy corn. I love love love love candy corn!So this year since getting into nail art I HAD to do a Candy Corn Inspired Manicure!!!
I decided to go for a glittery sponged look. I even used some glow in the dark polish making it extra fun!!!To start I painted all my nails white then used a makeup brush dipped in glue to go around my nails for easier clean up.

I then applied Julep Dahlia , Zoya Beatrix and Julep Casper to a cosmetic sponge and applied it to my nail. I did this twice for better coverage.
Here is a close up of the cosmetic sponge - that is the correct color order for candy corn btw ;).

This is what they look like after sponging. I would make the stripes of color smaller if my nails were as short next time.

Here is the whole hand after clean up. They look very bumpy and textured but it's not really that bad.

And another shot. They look better in person I think. They did not photograph well.

Breast Cancer Awareness Mani

Well hello there! October is flying by isn't it!??! I was going to start doing some Halloween nails but I remembered that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (how can you forget?) and decided to do a Breast Cancer Awareness mani instead. Next week I will have some Halloween themed nails for you. So I knew there would be pink involved #duh but that was all I really had in mind when I started. Also my nails are super short right now! In looking at my nail polish collection I noticed I am deficient in pink polish (truth be told I am more of a purple girl) but pink polish is on my list (any excuse to buy polish right?) So I started from there. I used OPI Hey Baby Cream Gloss on my pinkie and middle finger topped with Julep's Monica.

Then on my pointer finger I used Sally Hansen Celeb City (great silver) topped with Nicole by OPI Make a Comet-Ment which is the closest thing to a holo I can find locally!

For the ring finger I used dotting tools and put different size dots of Celeb City, Hey Baby, and China Glaze's Naked on a Julep White Base of Brigitte.

Then on my thumb I painted it Julep's Brigitte then used a dotting tool to make a pink awareness ribbon in OPI, Hey Baby. Not great but not horrible for my first time using a dotting tool to draw a shape!

I hope this raises awareness and maybe causes someone to think about their boobies! Do a self check, have a mammogram, or get involved!!!

I dedicate this manicure to Sherry Pfeil, Marilyn Dedrickson, Donita Lance and Pam Vohs.

Ava mani and muffin

I love my daughter so much! God truly knew what he was doing when he surprised us with a little girl! I had no idea how much I wanted a girl until she was here! I was perfectly happy with my two boys. I was content......and then came Ava Elizabeth. My girly twirly princess! She's only two 1/2 but she is my mini me, a girlier version of me when I was a kid cause I was a tomboy! She can be so incredibly sassy. I love her! She always wants her nails painted when I do mine and is getting pretty good at letting me file her nails and sit while they dry. Here she is wearing Julep's Elisa. It looks great on her, dontcha think?

Here she is with her mani and a Krusteaz Orange Cranberry muffin, which were super yummy btw!

She is so cute! She fills a hole in my heart I never even knew was there! I can't imagine our life without her!!!!

Chevron accent mani using UpYourNail

Oh my goodness! How is it October 6th already? First off I wanna wish my middle child a very happy birthday today! He is 7 and I love him so much! He had a sleepover birthday party Friday night and it was great! He received Disney Infinity 2.0 and several of the Marvel characters so he was super excited! Then we had soccer yesterday and mom and I went to the Josephine Expo here in town. Yesterday I made a big crock pot of chili! The temperatures dropped Friday and look like they might stay that way for a while! Fall is definitely in the air!
Today I am sharing with you a great fall mani and one of my favorite manis ever!

I started with a base of this super fabulous Orly rust called Pink Chocolate! How fun is that name?

Then I applied these chevron vinyls from UpYourNail.com I love her vinyls! She has all kinds of designs as well as a polish store! I ran across her on Instagram and decided to try some vinyls out! They shipped super fast and worked great! The price is great too!

I then painted over the vinyls with Orly's Oui. I love love love this color! It is on my toes and I love it! So sparkly but such a pretty fall color. I didn't realize how much purple was in it until I put it on over these white vinyls! It just screams fall leaves to me or a fall sunset!

I removed the vinyls, applied topcoat and this is the end result! I love it!

Who is the Krafty Mama?

Hi I'm the Krafty one! :) I'm the Queen to 2 little knights and a sweet princess. I married my knight in shining armor (kevlar) over 8 years ago and I am a REAL mom, wife and substitute teacher trying to be the best I can be! I love "krafting" but tend to buy more supplies than I actually use. I love make up, nail polish, hair products and fashion but have been known to leave the house in sweats a messy bun and no make up! I love to cook and bake but am guilty of feeding my kids McDonalds in a pinch. I love direct sales and have joined too many to mention! I would love to get to know you!
